Painting: Acrylic, Spray Paint, Household on Canvas.
For this series I’ve been working on a series of Self portraits and also exploring the myth of The Minotaur.
The Minotaur is an interesting character as obviously he is a man and a beast. He is powerful and strong but also a prisoner. He should be physically able to do anything but he can’t escape his trap.He is so powerful yet powerless. Why does he not leave the maze? Is he a prisoner by design or by choice?
I have being trying to reflect on this thought in my own life . what is my prison? What is my maze? Can I leave it?
There's also the task of examining one’s self on a close scale , holding contemplating a skull , your own mortality , contemplating death , contemplating life.
40 x 40 inches
